Kokó Brandão, Brazilian born Florida resident, is a true Abstract Expressionist. She found herself in this movement because colors and forms are created freely in a subconscious way that fits with her happy, creative and colorful personality.
Kokó began painting after moving to Florida in 2001. Even though the culture and language barrier could have been a problem she turned this obstacle into motivation to express herself through art. She is now well known in the art community.
Kokó’s art reflects her tropical culture. Bright colors and the attention to detail convey a sense of beauty. Often depicting human figures in her acrylic on canvas paintings, she captures their movement, grace and individuality. Acrylic is her favorite medium because her method of painting requires layers of paint that need to dry quickly.
Known for her kind, friendly, helpful personality, Kokó always wears a smile and has a happy positive outlook that makes people laugh. It is not surprising that her favorite color is yellow. A color that is not only bright and full of life, but it signifies hope, joy, intellect, and happiness.
Kokó believes that by experimenting and sometimes making mistakes she improves her work. Each new painting is a conquest for this Brazilian woman who considers herself a successful artist who has achieved more than she could have imagined when she first started painting. Her many loyal customers and followers are also a mark of success for her. She is happy with her visitors at the numerous exhibitions and art festivals she participates in.
In the end, Kokó is a happy extroverted person who is full of life and new adventures.
Her studio and gallery is now located inside 1026 SoFlo Fine Art Gallery and Marketplace in Lakeland, Florida.
